The type of nonimmigrant visa you are able to secure depends upon your job offer and
your credentials.

Many professionals come over on an H-1B. Those who are being transferred within a
company, come over as an L-1.

There are many options, it is a matter of which is the best fit for you and your
occupation.

With respect to marrying a U.S. citizen, you would then qualify for a green card
through that marriage.

Your best strategy sounds like to come to the U.S. for your job under the most
appropriate nonimmigrant visa. If things progress with your girlfriend and you
marry, you should then file for adjustment of status for your green card based on
that marriage.

For more information on the nonimmigrant options available to you, please our firm's
web site at www.srs-usvisa.com If you require any further information, please feel
free to contact me anytime.
