Post HGV Drivers in USA

Hi, was wondering if anyone on here knew what the situation is in America regarding the need for long haul/heavy goods drivers? I know that in Canada they're crying out for them, but let's face it, if you're leaving England for a new start then there's no point going to an even bigger England, regardless of how lovely it is. Also know they're crying out for them in Australia. Can find plenty of information on agencies that sort out all the paperwork, employment etc for entries into Canadialand and Oz but none for the US. Any help please.

P.S if none of this thread has made sense, I do apologise, my space bar is broke and I'm extremely tired.

it's a no-go based on being a trucker in the UK.

you need some other underlying visa / work authorisation / green card first.

What did you notice during your visits to Canada that made you feel it was an even bigger England?

Just curious.

I'd be very wary of any "agency" that promises to sort out paperwork and employment.

Unless you've got a Greencard, married to, or are a USC, this just isn't going to happen.

just the cost of things, really, and from asking friends, the cost of living.

There was at least one bringing over UK drivers on an H2a to haul agricultural produce off the fields. Of course, they were promising green cards...a pretty impossible feat from an H2a.

One or two posted on here a while back.....but nothing recently. I'd guess they're back home by now.

The US will be no different. It's not cheap living here.

I suggest you get new friends, because the one's you have don't really know what they're talking about!

There is a shortage of certified heavy load drivers, this was created by the wind farm construction boom, heavy load drivers are needed to move the blades and tower sections. Someone from GE told me it takes around 6 months to get a driver certified. As mentioned in previous posts the chances of getting a visa are slim.

The guy who delivered our wood boilers did that. Montana I think he said but he did not like not getting home, but good money.

Weather can be brutal in winter.

My Son in Law makes the blades, very big.

They make those windmills somewhere in Northern Maine too. They come through our little town on a daily basis.

I can see why there would be a need to employ specialist drivers for those gargantuan loads.
