Default Henderson police arrested a family for refusing officers use their homes as lookout

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Henderson police arrested a family for refusing to let officers use their homes as lookouts for a domestic violence investigation of their neighbors, the family claims in court

http://www.courthousenews.com/2013/07/03/59061.htm

This country becomes more of a police state every year.

I was reading about this elsewhere, on a Nevada forum. It's a disturbing story. The police even shot the dog a couple of times with some type of mace (?).

But I also read posters were surprised anyone dared to confront the police over any issues at all. I get the impression the police instill fear in Americans? I hope not.

From a purely practical point of view, any time you don't do what the police tell you to do you run the risk of being arrested for "obstruction" (and I think that is true pretty much wherever you are in the world).

Is that "right" - no, of course it isn't - but when there is a confrontation between a police officer and a citizen you know who is going to lose (at least in the short term).

Better to have said "no" once, very clearly and firmly and then allowed them to do whatever they wanted to do leaving you free to go off and call your attorney ...

...
Standard operating procedure these days is for a group of officers to pile on all shouting "stop resisting " while the unconscious victim just lies there.

Hopefully if I get treated like this it will be by a well funded police department.
I would be looking to turn them into my second income / retirement fund.

That, plus they should be arrested for assault and assorted other things.

so whilst investigating domestic violence, the pd inflict violence upon a family. "Seems Legit".

What a way to blunder and compromise an investigation too - everything is now public record and prob not be difficult to put 2 and 2 together to identify which household they were investigating in the first place (which I hope that no further violence occurs upon a person in that household). Besides, any evidence would probably be inadmissible due to the process of how it was unlawfully gathered .... good one HPD.

Agreed, but I don't even know how multiple officers could storm a house, yelling and screaming obscenities and NOT have hopelessly compromised the supposed other investigation.

It's a conspiracy brought about by The Brothers of the Third Amendment, who feel slighted that their amendment to The Constitution is the least used or known. Expect more billeting, they said.

I did wonder how the police are always able to conduct surveillance from a neighbouring house in movies.
