Default Help Pregnant in the US

Ok so I know I havent been posting much lately but I have a lot going on.

Found out recently that I am pregnant and am worried about what happens regarding cictizneships etc. So my question is three fold: -

1. We are EAD's EBS categrory waiting on the elusive GC. Both Brit cits. If we have a child born in the USA can it be registered as a US citizen on the basis of geographical birth? If yes how do we go about achieving this? If no what kind of visa do we need to get for the child?

2. How do I register our child as a UK citizen. We dont plan on being here for more than another 3 years BUT if things dont go to plan we need to persue # 1. Also we want our child to hold British citicenship regardless of where we are living but if we stay in the US we dont want the hassle of visas.

3. I understand that the US govt doesnt recognise dual citizenship but willl the UK govt accept our childs British citizenship based on the fact that both parents are Biritsh?

I know lots of other people have posted on this issue in the past but the thread searches I did were a little confusing.

Thanks all in advance.

1, A child born in the US is a USC, Diplomats excepted. A visa is to enter a country. One is not required to exit the birth canal, I think.

2. www.britainusa.com

3. Probably, some unusual cases may have an issue. But if you were a USC in the UK, chances are the child would also e dual.

Plenty of people are dual US/UK citizens - no problem at all with that.

I know the UK govt doesnt have a problem with it from our embassy website. Having problems finding a web resource for registering the child as a US citizen and whether this is possible seeing as we're both Brits. USCIS website doesnt appear to have a link, or I missed it.

Everyone born in the US (other than diplomats kids) are USCs.

You have never heard of Anchor Babies? A bit of a misnomer, but you get the gist.

Yes I'm guessing that if you take a look at what is required to get a US passport then it will just be the birth cert that will prove the child's US citizenship, and when you apply for the UK one your birth certs will prove it's UK citizenship. When we applied for our foreign born daughter's passport we didn't have to provide any 'proof' of citizenship other than the usual stuff the parents have to provide.

You don't register a child born in the US as a USC. It just is one by nature of its birth in the US. Apply for his/her passport as proof.
