Help Please... Is my mom a US citizen?
 

I was wondering if you could possibly give me the benefit of your vast knowledge on
this subject.

My grandmother was born and baptized in Washington state, in 1903. I have records
which prove baptismal from the Catholic Parish where she was baptized. My grandmother
was born to an American citizen and a Canadian citizen.

My mother was conceived in the United states and then just prior to her birth my
grandparents moved to Canada (1932). My mother has never resided in the USA.

My question is this, can my mother claim US citizenship and if she was to do so could
I in turn also do this?

Your mother was both a US citizen and a Canadian Citizen when she was born, just as
her mother was. But since your mother never lived in the US, she could not pass her
US citizenship on to you. You might have been able to claim US citizenship based on
your grandparents, but you would have to be under 18. Here is the best website

His mother could still go to the U.S., and could then pass on her citizenship,
couldn't she?

No. His mother can, however, petition for him to get a green card to live in the USA.
It'll take some time but it can be done.
