Hi All!

We've sorted our international move from UK to USA (specifically to Bayonne, NJ) but the company we tentatively booked to pick up our things from the depot and deliver to our house in NY just now informed me they don't pick up from ports! I assumed this was a given since its an international shipment but they overlooked this point.

Now I'm under huge pressure to sort a company who will pick up the shipment Monday 16th July- it's so last minute! I've tried google searching but I don't know the right parameters to enter and keep coming up empty-handed! I need a company to pick up from a port in NJ and deliver to upstate NY.

Any help would be immensely appreciated! Bec x

Will the goods have cleared customs already ? If not my company use Vandegrift (http://www.vandegriftinc.com/) for full container loads, but they have helped me out with some personal shipments as well, including having the goods collected from the port and delivered. You could contact the nearest office to you and they should be able to help.

Otherwise - try UPS, they should be able to do this for you as well. Their website is www.ups.com - however, you are on your own to find the relevant part of their site - sorry !

We used Allied Pickfords...they collected our belonging from our UK house and one of the partner Allied companies delivered them to our place in NJ. Allied operate in the US you could try them.

Out of interest, why didn't you pick one shipper that organizes the whole shipment from door-to-door? Booking each bit separately seems a bit optimistic that nothing will go wrong. Is it too late to cancel? FWIW my move was only booked into the system two days before they loaded it - it's currently sitting in customs in Long Beach. This is with Allied Pickfords.

We also had good service door-to-door with Allied Pickfords.

Another user of Allied Pickfords - all went ok, only had reservations about some of the local guys doing the packing, but everything arrived ok with only very minor breakages. Otherwise went smoothly from pick-up to delivery.
