Help me , please..
Iam a britsh citizen. I have been in thestates most of my life but I had to move back to England for family reasons . When I came back US customs took my green card , andtold me I would haveto reapply. I never did and my visa expired . I have now been back for around 10 years , i want to become legal , but Iam no longer married to a US citizen . And have no family here . What can i do ?? Please help me , Im desperate.

Sorry to hear about your quandry - but I wanted to give you at least one reply, even if I am NOT a Lawyer and have only been a member here for one day.
It sounds like you should have maybe applied for that second Green Card when they told you??? Ooops.......oh well we all make mistakes......
I guess you should get in touch with the nearest INS office in the US to you - they will tell you what all your official options are.
After you have established that, you should either then be able to work at it yourself, or try to find a Lawyer of Immigration Rights who may be able to help you.
God bless, I hope everything works out for you - I am in just as desperately difficult situation here in the UK, not being able to be with my loved one in the US at the moment.

Riddle, you really should consult with a good immigration attorney. If I
were you, I would not ask INS anything before finding out where I stand.
If you really cannot afford an attorney, you could try to find free or
low-cost legal advice. See

Your permanent residence was deemed ABANDONED because you were out of
the USA for more than one year continuously. Seek the advice of a
good immigration lawyer (www.aila.org for a
referral).
