No not pre treated, just used a little bit on a clean cloth

We use Goof Off at work to remove graffiti from the outside of the building.

Mind you, I'm now on the verge of trying it on a white linen top that I have that also got black biro ink on it.

I'm finding this whole drama strangely gripping.

STOP putting random f***ing chemicals onto the leather!

Bleach is a disastrous idea (sorry Jerseygirl, I know you mean well) - bleach doesn't have any chemical effect on ink, so all it can possibly do is further wreck the leather around the ink marks.

Personally I think it's too late, but then I haven't seen pictures of the stains.

Bromleygirl, find a professional. Stop putting chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies and brand-name crap remover on your bag. The first solvent (nail varnish remover) did far more damage than the ink itself. Everything else has only made it worse.

I did say as a very last resort...as it if you're gonna throw the bag out you may as well give it a try.

Bleach gets ink out of white shirts.

We need to see a picture before we provide any more professional advice

OK I'm going to go and get the Goof Off today after work and see how that goes but as another poster said now that I've already chucked nail varnish remover the ink has now already spread and set. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for all the replies

This is what is in Goof Off.

1. Acetone
2. Xylene (mixed isomers) {Benzene, dimethyl-} 1330-20-7 10.0 -30.0 %
3. Ethylbenzene {Ethylbenzol; Phenylethane} 100-41-4 1.0 -5.0 %
4. Hydrotreated light distillate (petroleum) 64742-47-8 7.0 -13.0 %
Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether
{2-(2-Butoxyethoxy)ethanol {(a glycol ether)}

Ie nail varnish remover plus other lovely things. Seriously, we use it at work to remove spray paint from brick and concrete - I can't imagine using it on good leather.

PS: Do NOT breathe it in or get it on your skin or in your eyes.!

It worked well on the leather in the car, and also removed wax crayon from the felt roof liner without any damage.

Sounds like the damage might already be done to the bag though!

I used it very sparingly.
