Will have to get skilled jobs or win the lottery to invest, then you might get in.

To the OP, you have to understand that lots have the same dream, from many countries and without specialised jobs, sponsors etc it does not really matter how much money or relatives you have, unless mega millions on the lottery. That may seem harsh but as it has been said, it is nigh on impossible to get to the US nowadays.Sorry to be negative but... try Oz,NZ or even Canada or at least Europe but there you have problem over language etc.Best of Luck.;)

What's the big deal with Florida? It seems to pop up a lot in these kinds of posts.

Other states have sun, so that can't be the only reason. Is Florida really that great? I am not convinced.

Go down Miami South Beach both daytime and nite. You'll see... ;)

Depends on what you want in life and how financially fit you are. If you are young and want the good life, then Miami and South Beach are for you. If you are wealthy and want the rich life, then go to Naples, Florida. If you are middle aged with kids then the rest of Florida is for you and yours. You'll be just like the rest of the minions working 9 to 5, coming home to sit in a/c rooms because it is so bloody hot and humid out you would expire in a few hours without a/c. You need to love large roaches, alligators, mosquitos and snakes. Florida is not a promise land but guess the grey and damp environment of parts of the UK make it appear to be.

Yeah see that's the thing. Florida seems to have all these drawbacks.

Northern California, on the other hand, doesn't.

I think it must just the living-where-you-went-on-holiday thing. Same as all those Brits that move to Spain or Portugal for a few years before realizing real life is never as simple as a big long package holiday and eventually beating a retreat back to Blighty.

(not trying to patronize the OP, just musing about general trends)

The hint there was...unfortunately pretty much no chance.

You need way more cash than $100K because you've got to get a house, couple of cars and pay deposits, insurance and all that other rubbish on top.

E2 visa isn't that great for anyone with kids either...and especially this economic climate...and Florida especially...

Stick to Canada where you've got a mroe viable option if you really want to try something.
