Hello there...
Hello everyone,
After lurking for a while I thought I would take a minute to bid you all a cheery good day. I was born in the westcountry, where I lived until the age of 30. I have been living in the Pacific Northwest for the last 13 years, though I get to go back for visits every couple of years. I love living here though we all get homesick sometimes, don't we.
There seem to be a lot here who settled in North and South Carolina. Is that just a bizarre coincidence?
Best to all,
Stumpyguy.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Yeah, there do seem to be quite a few people from the Carolinas. I live in Texas, having moved here 15 months ago after living the first 32 years odd of my life in England.

- To all my fellow NC residents - why did you move here ?
My reason is because my wife has some relatives here, so we had somewhere to go when we first arrived.
I think this may be the same for others.

Maybe it was the pulled pork sandwiches?
There are some quite large technology employers in the Research Triangle, that might explain it. Rather them than me though, it's way too hot in the summer there for me...

Maybe I'd better clarify some terms relating to the area I live in.
The Triangle = Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Check the location of these three "cities' on a map and you'll see that they form a triangle.
RTP= Research Triangle Park (aka the Park to the locals) This huge industrial park (nothing like any industrial park I've ever seen. It's in a forest essentially) is in both Wake and Durham counties.
RDU= Raleigh Durham International Airport (has direct non-stop flight to Gatwick)

North Carolina has other attractive advantages too, the climate, the people, it's near several branches of my wife's family, relatively low cost of living, good for seeing motor racing (this is the NASCAR belt first, the bible belt second! ), not many big cities with all the problems they attract, .....
