Hello everyone. I thought I would reintroduce myself. I posted a few times last year before we moved . Well we are now in Pittsburgh...been here for 3 months. I won't bore you with the details as you have all been there, done it and got the tee shirt.
I have been lurking in the background for a while and thought it was time to stick my head above the parapet

Hi there again, how did you settle in, in the end? How are you finding Pittsburgh?

I think we are settling in slowly. We have been made really welcome and as I was without a car at first (I thought it would be easy to walk everywhere!!!!)
one of my neighbours took me out somewhere every week and showed me the city.Lots of invites over Christmas and New year. We miss family and friends but we have our first visitors arriving in April.
We haven't had time to explore Pittsburgh much. There seems to be a lot going on but we were a bit disappointed to find it didn't have a big shopping area in the downtown area. I like shopping in city centres. But never mind.
Only negative thing has been my youngest daughters school. She is 10 and goes to a middle school that is run like a prison. She already has 2 strikes against her name and will be "punished" if she does anything else wrong. Very different to her UK primary school.

Be sure to have a sandwich at Primanti Bros. I've seen that place on 3 different food TV shows and it looks the business.

Many Shopping Malls are in other areas of the city rather than in the downtown area. In the UK you can park your car and walk from shop to shop but as your discovering here its you drive from shop to shop.

When we finally got to the strip via MacDonald's (where another customer was really nasty to us...but thats another story) everything was closed. We haven't been back. But we will.
