I was born in Crowthorne Berkshire UK, have been living in the USA since 1960and now living in Alabama.
I have been reading this page for a few days enjoyed the posts so decided to join y'all.
Not to computer smart so hope I get this part right.

Oh!! have had a computer since 1997 am on my 3rd one now still hasn't made me any smarter.
Last time I went home Crowthorne sure had changed, also have family in Wokingham.

I had a friend who'd been in the States since the 50s. Her accent was American but she use British words from time to time. How about you? Have you lost your British accent or does your everyday language still contain the odd British English word?

I've been in the US for five years myself and like you, I live in the South.

Thanks for the welcome. Lynne I live just a few miles north of Gulf Shores.
I think most of my Emglish has stayed with me, I was asked at the Supermarket by the checker why I didn,t talk like the Geeko in the TV commercial.
