I got married in 1984 my hubby was in the merchant navy,lost his job I had just came out of teacher training couldn't find a job so we came over here. I have two children , my daughter is at Uni and my son is in the Us army.
I go back to Scotland twice a year .I just came back last week ,I was there for 6 weeks and loved it . I have always felt torn between the two counntries

Lol Bob - the girl in question is only 15 at the moment. I'm fairly sure that if she moves over with her family she'll be able to go the usual American route to getting a teaching qualification

Yes what ever she wants to know , I have brought up two children here and it is very diffrent , also I went back to school because my diploma wasen't enough .The education system is very diffrent and if i can answer questions i will be glad to help " even with a 15yr old"

Hello Iona!

If you'd like to share what part of Scotland you are from, and where you live in the US, you may find some old and new neighbours.

Some of my ancestors were from Ayrshire. I'm Texan born and bred but feel very much at home in the UK. I hope to live there someday and would love to live in the UK in the summer and Texas in winter!

aye, true...but teaching quals do vary state by state....plus if help with the transfer of gcse's into whatever it's called here is pretty handy info for people...
