Default Health insurance question on a K1 visa

Hey guys,

So when I move to the United States on a K1 visa - what are my options for health insurance? Would I be able to purchase something like Patriot America whilst I'm on the K1, and then when I file my adjustment of status and become a permanent resident look for something more long term?

Thanks,

I assume your USC spouse-to-be doesn't have health insurance that you can be added to (after marriage)?

It's a bit of a funny one because as she's still at college she's still covered under her parents insurance so we looked into it but it doesn't look like a possibility at the moment

Moving here is one of those "life" changing events, so should be exempt from the open enrolment date for ACA.

Oh, I see. Have her look into insurance through her school, she should be able to enroll in that and then add you as a spouse.
