Just a small correction for others reading. You don't have the whole 90 days available to apply for SSN. Only the first 76 days. SSA won't accept an application within 2 weeks of the 90-day period expiration.

Yes, if you do not get it through a K1, EAD is the next thing you get that allows you to apply.
