Re: Health care costs reduced!
HEY!!!
I started this just to tell y'all I had a good deal from a US hospital, not to start an argument about union rates of pay!!
BTW I know what my Chief Constable would have said if I had asked him for a raise before I passed the Sergeants' exam!
Although I did once put in for an hour's overtime when I had to work an extra hour on nights due to summer time ending................Inspector told me I was being bloody cheeky and to get out of his office!

However job bandings and stipends have been around forever in the UK so no it's not some new Socialist invention. Perhaps you ought to reconsider your Victorian attitudes. You can't seem to read anything at all, which just makes me laugh at your ignorance. Then again and probably more likely is that you read the posting (and commented) wrongly on purpose. Thanks for addressing me as Scotsman, that was no doubt your sad attempt at bringing some other divisive thing into it.
Interesting that you attack me and then accuse me of being a Troll when I respond. Very nice. Interesting also to see you all gang together. Very divisive and frankly childish.
You really know nothing anything about me Tory. I really dislike your sort. I wouldn't have tolerated your opinions in Britain and I sure as hell won't tolerate them here in Texas. Wonder if you are as brave to talk rubbish like that to the rednecks around Plano? I'm laughing my socks off at you.
If you don't already know that British based Teachers, Surgeons, Bricklayers, Civil Servants, Bin Men, Politicians and everyone else in a legal and above board profession, trade or unskilled labour have established pay rates and bandings for their jobs as laid down by the Government and Trade Unions, then I really don't know what to say. I cannot imagine what kind of job you ever worked at over there or where you might have worked. You will never be paid anything outside your paybanding while you remain in that particular job, which only rises with service.
You win nothing. Your opinions like the Tory party you seem to adore are complete garbage. Thanks but no thanks as I said earlier. I refuse to be baited on any message board. I've been around the internet since the start when it was just Techies, IT workers and other interesting people and then came your sort.
BTW, accusations of trolling are just silly to me, since I take internet usage very seriously and why not, since having over 50 profitable websites of my own on the go and have built around 5 times that for others (small to medium companies). Perhaps you've even bought something from me without having realised it or I've profited from one of the your many click throughs someplace. Hmm come to think of it if you frequent sites like this one, I'm almost sure of it. End users like you are my bread & butter! Hardly surprising really since I am an IT graduate (Glasgow, Sheffield Hallam, MA Oxford) and well I've been around the internet so long.
You are free to have your opinions and accuse others of being trolls, but really I am probably the least likely person around who Troll's message boards! Seen it all done it all, so do me a favour, that's too sad even for me. So I'm out of here and pleased to go. Enjoy your boards.

Re: Health care costs reduced!
Ah, now I'm a jerk, a Tory, a sycophant and divisive (at least 5 times in this thread - is that your word of the week?).
So, here we go again, you silly little man:
You are, of course, spot on with your perceptive reasoning. I am a lifelong Labour voter, and all of 34 years old. I'm sure you'll have something dreadfully clever, witty and utterly devoid of sense to say about that. "Hah, I knew it!" would be a good start.
You see again and again you've called me (and others) stupid and ignorant and divisive (again?), but you're still utterly confused. Now that we've established that I'm young and a Labour voter, you now need to work out whether, by using your actual screen name, I was trying to imply some kind of national slur. ScotsmanInTexas, your screen name is too long to type, you sad little man. Do I have your permission to abbreviate it? I'll call you Scotsman' in future, if that helps.
Hey, I know, why not distract attention, by giving us all a little lecture about how I prove that New Labour is just like the Tories, and how that now means that you hate EVERYONE in the UK?
Actually Scotsman', I don't think you'll find that I attacked you. I simply told you of my personal experience negotiating my salary. Oh, but thanks for reminding me that I'm divisive. I had quite forgotten.
...and you are a Troll if ever I saw one, but we won't go into that, as it seems to upset you so dreafully. You do know that I don't actually mean the kind that lives under a bridge, don't you?
"...and I fart in your general direction". You're right that at the start of this thread I didn't know a damned thing about you. By now I feel I know rather too much about you, and if I were you I'd be rather embarrassed that everyone else reading this thread knows so much of your personality too.
Ah! Now here we get back on-topic, and you're still as deluded as ever. The question is really very simple: Are you aware, Scotsman', that there are jobs and careers which are not governed by Trade Unions and are not paid for by the taxpayer through the Government?. A simple question really. You can give me a simple yes-or-no answer if you like.
Actually, according to you (and I hadn't really thought about it before) I win the right to negotiate my own salary, and make as much money as I am worth, rather than having to wait for people like you to negotiate a better deal for me. Or am I missing something?
Oh, and I'm glad you've been around t'Internet for so long. Apparently that would explain why you are so emotionally involved in message board rants. Nice to see that there are already people capable of looking back at the Internet and saying "Eh, when I were a lad it weren't all rubbish like it is today".
But I see another opportunity for you to set me straight - what exactly is my sort? Remember to think hard about your insults, since last time you were of the opinion that I was an old Tory.
I'll give you a hint: I'm not black either. Oh, but I am married with children so that could be a good place to start your rant. I took all my tax breaks in the UK too, and I was unfailingly rude and unfair to my single male colleagues, all of whom were better at their jobs than me, but paid only 17p per hour!
"Must... remember...to tell them all... how very, very successful and intelligent I am!".
Mmm. Click-throughs. Nothing like seeing your fortune being made one dime at a time, eh?
I'll see your Oxford MA and raise you one Cambrdige PhD, sir.
Well yes, technically I'm free to have my opinions. It's just that there are these trolls who keep objecting to them.
Finally I will ask again: why do you think that those of us in the private sector (you know, the world outside of Government flunky jobs) would not be free to negotiate our own salaries? Please explain, for I feel sure that you will provide us with many long hours of amusement.
There, you can take your fingers out of your ears now, Scotsman'
So, here we go again, you silly little man:

Re: Health care costs reduced!
Even with pay bands people don't earn the same. I know plenty of people that work in jobs that have pay bands, they can negotiate a raise just as long as it is not above the limit. I did it myself once when I worked in a hospital. I also know for a fact that people doing the same job don't get paid exactly the same amount. I also know people who have worked for the NHS and negotiated their starting salary, in fact if you look on most of their job postings it even says the salary is negotiable up to a certain limit, or at least they did a couple of years ago.
Getting back to the original post. Most healthcare facilities regardless of what they do have more credit adjustments than they do payments. Most will also write off small balances, sometimes a dollar amount sometimes a percentage.

I would also like to add, that when I lived in the UK, I was single with no kids.
I found generally, that the married guys generally worked harder and were better at their jobs because.
a) They had a mortgage
b) were responsible for tiny mouths.
whereas the single lads sometimes couldn't give a toss.
