It's not rocket surgery, Kim. If you give people ostensibly "free" stuff, of course they'll bitch and cream when you try and take it away.
I wish my hands of this whole affair. Enjoy yourselves while it lasts.

It makes me laugh when Americans (Fox News) use terms like 'socialism' because they have no idea what they're talking about. What also makes me laugh is when the very people who would be helped by healthcare reform are on the news jabbing their fists in the air in anger because they don't want health care reform. "Don't you dare help me improve my situation in life. I'd rather be homeless because of my medial bills!" Oh, the ignorance....

McCain's seat is up this year and he has a challenger in the primary who makes Hannity & Limbagh look like moderates. Expect him to be uber neocon until after the primary, then to swing back to the middle after he wins it.

OK can anyone awnser these questions for me?
a) Will it mean us Brits on a permanent Resident card will be covered by this Health Care Bill?
b) When do you think it is likely to actually be full in place?

I understand it covers Citizens and Perm Residents. I'm pretty sure Green Card holders will be fined if they don't have insurance like any US Citizen will so expect it to work the other way too.

I've thought about that - but what about those green card holders whose sponsors are still liable under the affidavit of support?

Hmm good point. WHat about those who are still under the affidavit of support? Are they still covered by the new health care bill?
Also what do you mean fined if you dont have insurance? WHy do you need insurance if you are automatically covered by the universal health care bill?

What's the Matter With Kansas? explains this quite nicely...
Yes, I raised this point some months ago, but nobody gave a toss. The worst case scenario is that we end up getting fined for not claiming benefits that we're ineligible for.

"Can the applicant use government assistance or public benefits?
If the sponsored immigrant uses federal means tested public benefits, the sponsor is responsible for repaying the cost of the benefits."

Medicaid is considered an MTPB.
