Head in the sand
Guess its time to wake up. I'm new to this forum and have been reviewing threads for the past couple of days trying to find similar situations to my own. Lots of guidance needed.
"Insufficient credits for SS"
We have been in the states 13years, my retirement date is looming and I do not have enough credits for SS. During these years I've worked some, a year at college and been partner in a business, now sold.
In the UK I worked until moving here, took a small pension from my employer, paid extra stamps after moving here to get my full UK Pension. Received UK Pension at age 60, which reduced my works pension. That's paid into a UK Bank.
My husband is 8 years younger than me and had worked for the same UK/USA company until last year when he started his own business.
I hope that gives a little background information. Where do I go from here since I don't have a clue about Medicare either.

I don't have a clue... I know that's as about as helpful as a chocolate tea-pot but how much would you get a week, had your met your SS "credits".
Can't you just work for another 5 years ?

can use your NIC to beef up your SS contributions.
Medicare is for US citizens though.

Thanks for the suggestion Bob. Any ideas on where I can research the NIC beef up?

No that's not right. Our very good friends have medicare coverage now and they are not citizens just resident aliens.

Then, if not enough "credits" ( 40 quarters ), buy in is possible for Parts A and B.

It may work the other way round for you, your American SS can be added to your NIC to calculate your UK Soc Sec pension.
