Default HDNet to Air BBC's Torchwood

Wanted to watch this so it should be excellent in HD

HDNet to Air BBC's Torchwood
Sci-fi series includes 26 episodes.

Washington, D.C. (August 1, 2007) -- HDNet has announced that it's purchased the rights to the first 26 episodes of Torchwood, the BBC-produced sci-fi drama.

The high-def network, which is available on satellite and several cable systems, will air the first episode on Monday, September 17 at 7 p.m. ET. with encore airings for 10 p.m. ET and 1 a.m. on September 18.

Torchwood, which is based in Cardiff, Wales, follows a group of renegade investigators who use alien technology to solve crimes by humans and aliens.

HDNet says the first two episodes of Torchwood set a ratings record in the U.K., scoring higher ratings than Lost when the two programs were head-to-head.

“We’re thrilled to be airing Torchwood in HD,” said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of HDNet. “This is certainly a Russell T. Davies signature show. TORCHWOOD explores adult themes and doesn't shy away from anything. Whether it’s the diverse storylines or the hero’s ambivalence to sexual boundaries, this is not your typical show, and I love it.”

Cool Re: HDNet to Air BBC's Torchwood

BBC America are also showing it starting on the 8th September.

The American dude who plays the Captain is actually a Scotsman (born in Glasgow), his family moved to the US when he was young

If you have Comcast with on demand, you can see a 30 minute 'preview' episode that is already available.

watched this season a few weeks ago... its kinda strange but you get into it...

not what I expected... don't be surprised if you hear things like "bleep me, what the bleep was that" in a welsh accent from a DAMNED cute brunette.

Did I pick up from Auntie that this is a spin-off from Doctor Who?

I liked it, but not as much as Dr Who and sometimes, the language they use is a bit cringey. Only because it seems completely out of place, they go from perfectly normal conversation to porn-esque speak in a way that seems unnatural.

I don't want to spoil it but in one episode in particular, were they were obviously trying to be extremely sexy, we laughed, it just seemed a bit silly, they just didn't pull of the sexual chemistry stuff at all.

It's still worth a watch though, especially if you like Doctor Who.

Yea. Torchwood (anagram of Doctor Who) was worked into a few plotlines of the new Dr. Who over the last season or two, and the lead also appeared in a few Dr. Who's as well. The Doctor's companion Freema Agwealshfshf (yea, I can't spell it either) is going to appear in Season 2 of Torchwood before rejoining the Doctor mid-season.

Spoiler below regarding Capt Jack

[spoiler - select text to view]
Captain Jack played WAY more than a "bit" part in Dr Who being that he IS oldest character in the Dr Who Universe, revealed in the final episode of S3,

"yeah, I used to be a model, they called me 'The Face of Bo'"

The Face of Bo being a recurring character throughout the recent 3 seasons of Dr Who and a story "director".
