Not nonsense. I said in "many," not "all." California, Florida, Texas, New York, Arizona, Illinois . . .

I don't think that 1 in 10 (or even 1 in 7) is "many", I would say that is "a few", or "a handful"; I would even "some", but not "many". ..... But I'll let your "many" go if you'll concede that "Calgary metro would be the largest or second largest conurbation in a large majority of US states."

But would it? My list wasn't comprehensive. Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri . . . etc.
I am not willing to take the time to count up, but I will concede Calgary would be the largest metro area in approximately half the US states, but that half contain far fewer than half of the US population.
What would you say is the US cognate of Calgary? In my earlier post I proposed Salt Lake City or Oklahoma City. Possibly Memphis too?

Your earlier list had Arizona on it, which only has ONE conurbation bigger than Calgary, as does Georgia, and then Missouri is a bit of an oddball because it has TWO large conurbations but they both straddle state lines: St Louis is which is half in Illinois and Kansas City which is half in Kansas.

Who hasn't had second thought at one time or another, anyone?
I pretty much resigned myself a long time ago that I'm here for better or worse, and that there's more to keep me here than not.
Still hopeful of winning the lottery and buying that apartment in Paris.

If you wanted to move to Paris, you most certainly could. By saying "that" apartment in Paris is a bit like saying you'd only move back to Kensington.

Or Camden or Primrose Hill.
