Have UK Net Biz - Any ways into the US if open us office?

Hi There,

Interested in moving to California. Have an internet business gen roughly $500k profit this year, we do a lot of promotion in the US, add content and produce on location videos/movies so a US base makes sense, plus I would prefer to live in California if at all possible.

I understand we have to keep the business running in the UK for tax reasons, but if we open up a marketing office in the USA, would this be a way to get into the states? How much would I have to invest (IE employ people there)?

Excellent questions for the Company Lawyer.

You could probably get away with 3 or 4 people.

How will you keep the UK end operating, do you have a Partner?

You also need to keep the business running in the UK for visa reasons!

There are quite a lot of threads on people with small businesses setting up in the US to transfer themselves, so worth a search.

It didn't seem like such a problem for them to get the visa, but the issue seems to be renewing the visa a year later.

If you open an office in the US can you afford to hire 10 people? If so, and you meet a few other criteria you dont have to keep your office open in the UK
