Has anyone sent insulin via Fedex/UPS etc?
Following on from a previous question about moving to the USA with diabetes as a pre-existing condition and the problem of getting medical insurance, I was looking into the possibility of getting a friend to buy the insulin for me in the UK and then send it by overnight courier in a special cool bag to ensure the insulin stays cold.
Has anyone done such a thing successfully?
Is is OK/legal to send medicine like this?
I've asked a couple of courier companies, but I haven't had a reply yet.

I would doubt its legality ... I have no basis in fact for this other than its always a pain to move drugs across borders.

Clearly states on the fedex instructions, no liquids.

If you can get someone to send it, good luck, because it's illegal....chances of getting caught? slim perhaps, but it's why drugs from Canada get stung.

I thought Canada could send 3 months at a time. Or at least that's what I saw on one Canada pharmacy, Or are you saying because it's a liquid?

and maybe the OP would loose his US visa if he was caught trying to get illegal drugs into the US.

Hmmm I just saw an online Canadian pharmacy the other day (sorry can't remember which) that said they could send 3 months at a time. They sounded legit, did require a prescription.

you can pick it up in person, they might send it, but it's still illegal...because it ain't FDA approved, even if it is exactly the same drug.

"Customs has the discretionary power to allow a 90-day supply with a 90-day refill. There are no restrictions on the number of prescriptions"

Interesting - this place seems to be indicating it's legal. Or I wonder if the shipment sometimes doesn't get through. See #8

Don't be fooled into thinking just because an on-line pharmacy says it's legal they are telling the truth. Plenty say it is legal to get prescription drugs through their on-line doctors...it is not...it is illegal. The FDA's clamped down on many of these websites in recent months. In other words some of these sites will tell you anything to get your money.
Interesting.
