Default Happy Birthday ESB

The Empire State building turns 75 on May 1st. One of the great buildings of the world made famous in the original King King, which was released in the same year the Empire State building opened (1931).
***** SPOILER*******
Just about everyone probably remembers watching King Kongs fatal fall from the top of the building as a kid.

Nice piece on it from NPR here;

This is one of the buildings I would really like to visit along with New York's Chrysler building. Still haven't made it to NYC, maybe sometime soon.

It is my favourite building. When we first came to live here we could see the Manhattan skyline from our apartment. Used to lie in bed and watch the lights go of at midnight. How they managed to build such a wonderful building 75 yrs ago with only a few deaths is amazing. Happy birthday ESB.

The Chrysler Building gets my vote for Architectural detail, the ESB although Iconic, is relatively bland from the outside. But seeing it lit up at night, gives you a little tingle.
Try the Woolworth Building and The Flat Iron Building as well.

I remember taking the children there - gosh must be nearly 10 years ago now. Somewhere I have a picture of them with some guy in a King Kong suit.

But the Chrysler gets my vote for looks,

Was the guy in the King Kong suit singing operas and/or arias?

I agree but from afar nothing can beat the majestic ESB standing proud on the Manhattan skyline.

I guess I just like huge erections then. This thread started out promisingly but has descended into the usual BE smut
