The problem with the lights, some folks leave them on so they can see to get in from work and aren't around yet.

The other sign is having a pumpkin lit by the door, but this year a lot seem to have been tossed because of Sandy, so not a great help there either.

But yeah, light on and some form of decoration is generally the sign that you're game, around here at least.

One odd thing around here, a lot of people just left stuff in a bucket, so those tended to have been emptied.

Out where we used to live, more folks would hang out up front and it would be a great neighbourhood party kind of feel and get to know the neighbours. Not the case where we're currently living though.

They organised it because of Sandy and how the neighbouring towns might not do it, like last year when most of the towns put it off by a week or so as you couldn't get around the streets safely.

I heard about it last night as some friends were doing it - they seemed to think it was normal, or that most malls did it. Maybe a newer idea yet to catch on everywhere.

They do it here - I know a few people that did it. I don't know that it's that big, but isn't unheard of either.
