Default H1B and marriage to USC

Hello,
I am a British H1B holder and have just got engaged to an American lady. We are planning to marry in December, and I was wondering what I have to do to become a permanent resident, then US citizen?
Where can i get the forms from, and after I file them in January will i automatically be given a greencard or stamp in passport or something to prove I am legal (and also to get back into the USA when I travel), as i know the Atlanta, and then the Texas center which deal with South Carolina (where I live) are rather slow.

I appreciate your help,
Regards,
Adam

Nothing automatic! You'll have to apply for employment documents (unless you
are happy to remain working for your H-1B sponsor which you can do until
that expires or you become a permanent resident) and advance parole if you
want to travel outside the US (in which case you will not re-enter as an
H-1Ber so would require an EAD). Note that the last topic is somewhat
complex and I urge you to read the discussions on it you will find by doing
a search on deja.com (look for AP and H-1B).

Here's a general overview of the process, read it and then if you have other
questions ask:

BTW, except for the production of the greencard, all of the processing will
be done through Atlanta or a sub-office of Atlanta.

Andy (ex. H-1Ber, now permanent resident)
