Default Greeting from Yorba Linda (no it's not Nixon!)

Hi, I'm Sean

My wife, kids and I moved to California 4 years ago from London (Ealing). I’m originally from Denton, Manchester. We got here through her job as an RN. I'm in IT so plenty to do in southern California.

Missing - Football (MUFC), Coronation Street , 30 days holiday a year.

Enjoying - Weather, less tax, beaches, HDTV (no corrie though!)

Hi and welcome. The most ardent corrie fan here is Jerseygirl. Desdemona is as well. I'm watching it as I can get Canadian tv here.

When I think of tax, I count everything that we HAVE to pay some government agency (or equivalent - eg HMO )

Once you factor in the property taxes and medical expenses, you may be worse off.

And then there's the complete absence of a safety net or stuff like maternity pay

Once you add in the trips home - which some of us need to stay sane - it gets outrageously expensive...

Hi Sean, welcome to BE.
Have you tired down loading Corrie? Ok I can't get it on HD but watch it regularly the day after it's been on in the UK.
