Default Greensboro, North Carolina

Hi

I have just moved to Greensboro, NC and was wondering if there are any ex-pats here.
If so, does anyone know about any local amateur soccer teams or even a ex-pat team.
Where do all the ex-pats hang out?

Thanks

Didn't you PM me one time...?

Don't know of any amateur soccer teams, I'm sure there are.
Ex-pat teams. None. I know that because non of the expats I've seen around here hang out together at all. (Miserable bunch of southern softies...)
Try M'Coul's Pub or W. McGee Street. I occasionally see a ManYoo shirt (must be from Surrey then) wearer in there.

If you ever want to go for a pint though give me a shout, maybe we can find or set one up ourselves.
Five a side though. I'm an old bastard now and can't run far.

Additionally - there is a big concentration of expats in Winston-Salem, so do a search around there too.

Sounds good Webbie

Anyone else on here up for a game of 5 a side or meeting for a pint???

I'll give you a shout for that pint in a few weeks, as I'm off back to the U.K next week for a vacation

Cheers

Paul

You're in the Triad and I live in the Triangle. Have you looked at www.meetup.com? I think in the Triangle group for British Expats (I think it's known as the Raleigh-Durham group) there is a member who lives in Greensboro. Maybe more than one registered on meetup.com.

I know there's some British guys in Raleigh/Cary area who play footie. Don't know if they're in a team. They might be.

In general, there's a fair number of Brits in the Triangle and also some good stores for buying British foods (if you're interested).

North Carolina isn't all that big so we shouldn't just do Greensboro but the whole state.

The three major cities here - Charlotte, the Triad, Raleigh-Durham are all about 1 - 1 & half hours drive from each other so we could do a NC get together (have a few beers, fire up the barbie, kick a ball around).

I'll give you a shout when you get back Paul and then post on here and see if we can organise an NC spring time gatheing.

Come on NC Penguin - grab your boots. Game on.

Grrr! Triad is not a city (as the the name Triad suggests)... Nor is Raleigh-Durham....

Triangle = Raleigh + Durham + Chapel Hill....

I would like to be the goalie!!

All right then Ms pedantic.

Charlotte/Concord (Charlotte)
Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem (aka Triad)
Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (Triangle)

Brit food - we have a (Costco) World Market over here with all the goods.

Webbie: it's (Cost Plus) World Market. It is easily confused with Costco, the warehouse shopping club...! I used to make mix up the two!

Well I believe the DP will never get elected if they continue to shop @ World Market. Middle America will never stand for it, you know! And the price of beans is a direct result of America's membership of the WTO and the underhanded tactics of the ACLU.

Have you got anything to say about Trader Joe's? There are no Trader Joe's in NC sadly.

Actually "Beans Means Heinz" as the tagline went. Is this a subtle reference to supporting the Democrats?

However, Trader Joe's is actually a front for the NRA -- but don't tell anybody!

National Restaurant Association? That makes absolute sense to me. Trader Joe's sells predominantly food...
