Default With great reluctance.....

I'm posting this message just in case.
My situation is that I'm waiting for my removal of conditions (I've been here for 2.5 years) and am waiting for Baltimore to contact me regarding my appointment for the 10 year visa.
The company I work for is losing its contract in 3/4 months and I am trying absolutely everything to find another job. You name it I'm doing it.
I've never been on the dole in my life.
However although I'm an extremely positive and proactive geezer, in the unlikely event that I don't find another job by the end of June, does anyone know how I stand with regard to collecting benefits, and if I am what is the % of current pay.
As I've said, and I'm lucky in one way that I can spend 50% of my work time (with my bosses approval) looking for another job.
Fingers crossed
Thanks in advance
Roger

Not sure if this is state specific or not, but I think one has to have worked for 17 weeks with present company, and the base period is the first four of the last five calendar quarters completed at the time you file your claim.

As far as rate of benefits is concerned, I believe it is not a % of your salary, but a flat rate per week. Probably the maximum would be somewhere around $300.00, I'd guess.

Not sure if I remember this correctly, Roger, or not. But aren't you in the hotel/entertainment field? Have you tried Las Vegas? I know my daughter has seen job opportunities online for some of the casinos that are looking for people to work in the convention department. There are also casinos with convention departments in Reno, Nevada, Biloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans

You've probably seen this site, but just in case:

http://www.dllr.state.md.us/employme...mployment.html

It has all the info. on pay rates etc.

Have to check somewhere else on position regarding removing of conditions stuff.

I understood that unless you had worked for 40 quarters, any benefits you claimed had to be repaid to the government by your sponsor ...

True of means tested benefits. Unemployment benefits are not means tested. It is a benefit which is paid out through the insurance paid by the employer. If you worked the required timeframe needed to collect, you can apply and receive weekly checks and the funds do not have to be reimbursed.

With a bit of luck you won't need an interview. I had my conditions removed on the basis of submitted documentation - house and car in joint name, etc.
