An L or H??? You dont give much away do you??

For the record we're in H category work visa's and we have been here FIVE years and still no EADs etc etc etc etc. have just applied for the i-485. We bought a house after we'd been living here a year which as prices were rising we didnt consider too risky as if we had to get out we could have made some dollar. We have an equity builder thing built into the mortgage so that we pay if off faster, that way if we have to go home we will have more equity to take out.
I'd say go for it unless you have like one month left on your visa as that might be a litlle foolhardy.

Depends on where you live and whether house prices are going up or down. Unless they are going up and will clearly continue doing so, don't buy a house. With 6% realtor fees you'll never get out unscathed financially. Also, trying to sell a house in a hurry (if you end up having to leave) is no picnic.

So generally speaking I'd say don't do it.

p.s. People on here are not mind-readers. Give more information unless you want people to think you are a troll.
