Good curry in NYC
Any decent places to go in NYC where the food isn't $30 a plate and tastes good?

Have a search, pretty sure there were plenty of recommendations in a couple threads for places in NYC in the past, might be in the US section and not the trailer park though...
Bricklane Curry House is supposed to be pretty good though apparently... http://www.bricklanecurryhouse.com/

Their lunch buffet is a cut above - and well cheap.

We love this place: http://suryany.com/
They'll even make stuff that's not on the menu if you ask (and they can do it), or at least they used to. We started going not long after they opened so it was a lot less busy back then, now it's busy every time we go.

NYC is littered with West Indian curry places (a slight twist on the 'Indian' one with a richer, more fiery edge).
Just look for a 'roti' place displaying either a Trinidad flag or Guyanese flag and stuff your face at a great price!
My heritage is both Trini and Guyanese, btw!

Brick Lane is modelled on a British curry house. The owner is from Leicester. It's the best in New York. Curries are typically around 20 bucks and rice is extra. The lunch buffet is a much better deal as long as you don't show up late.
On the same street (E 6th?) on the other side, Gandhi is also very good and a lot cheaper.

It's a trek into Queens but I love a place called Santoor. It's located at 257th Street and Union Turnpike.
Honestly, the food there is better than a lot of places in the UK that I used to frequent. They also have a nice selection of South Indian food like dosas etc.
