Good Company for Shipping for anyone interested!
I found this company http://www.transglobalexpress.co.uk/index.htm
to be pretty competitive for shipping personal effects etc (smaller items, rather than whole houses etc) - even cheaper than Parcelforce.
For some reason they have highly discounted rates on Fed Ex, DHL etc (I tried DHL for their Jumbo Boxes but the UK don't do them unfortunately) - for 30kg Fed Ex quoted me £169.50, Parcelforce £148.50 and this company, £97.42 - yet it's going through FedEx and will be delivered to my door!
I was pretty amazed to find out that my luggage allowance is 2 pieces, each weighing 32KG which is pretty good but who on earth weights their suitcase LOL - and how!!!
Happy Monday All!

What a lot of people don't realise is that you can send a LOT of stuff by 'cargo' on the plane you travel to the US on. Yes, you have your baggage allowance but when I moved, I also brought 13 boxes of goodies (clothes, baby toys, CD's, various other essentials) weighing 145 kg by Virgin Cargo. The cost was 2.82 (pounds) per kilo if taking under 100 kg and only 1.41 if sending more than 100kg. You drop it all off at the airport a day or two before you leave and pick it up the other end the day after you land (you have up to 3 days to collect before they start charging you storage fees). There was an admin fee of about 40 pounds this end and a customs clearance fee of $20 in the States,
I also used the same service when my wife moved to England 4 years ago and have found them very good. You can get their number from directory enquiries under 'Virgin Cargo' but Breitish Airways do a similar service but I don't know how much they charge.
Just thought I'd let you know.
