I've had some great bargain snow boots on Ebay. All brand new and a fraction of the cost in stores.

That's snowboot advice from someone in LA A pair of thick socks isn't cutting it when it's -20f .

thick socks...yup...bloomin' animal beasts they are
Problem with laces on boots though, when hoofing the snow off your motor, the laces swell up and are a mare to undo....which is why zippers are easier in the snow...
