Going on vacation advice...
 

Hi, I am returning back to the UK for the first time since becoming a permanent US resident, to visit family and friends with my USC wife, and would like some experiences and advice on the travelling through the airport since becoming a permanent US resident.

We are going via Dublin for two nights stay and then on to the UK for 5 more days there. I have my Green Card for the return journey to show at immigration control in Dublin and we are taking a copy of our wedding certificate too just in case. Any advice would be very much appreciated, lines to be in and all that kind of thing.

Just take your passport and green card no need for any other documents. Honestly it will be straightforward, more so than with a visa.

At Dublin you will use the permanent resident line, signage is good and when I have been through you scan your green card at the automated kiosk and get a printed out slip before going to the border agent. They are usually very helpful there.

You just need your passport and Green card, that's it. (Technically all you need is your Green card for U.S. entry, but you need the passport for boarding a plane.)

Your wedding certificate would only have any relevance if your passport and green card aren't in the same name i.e. if you haven't changed your passport after getting married.

My USC wife has kept her maiden name hence why we are taking that, just in case :)

I traveled with different names on my passport and green card for many years. I carried a copy of my marriage certificate, but never had to produce it.

When we left the cruise ship at New York, I presented my GC and UK passport. The guy asked me if the lady with me was my sponsor. I said yes.

He then asked my wife, 'do you want to keep him? I can deny him entry', whilst smiling.

Fortunately for me, my wife said yes :D
