Default Giving up Green Card

I've spent the majority of the last year back in the UK looking after a sick relative. I'm now looking into moving back permanently.
Has anyone given up their green card to move back, and then regretted it?
If so, what was it they they regretted?

Just one Green Card,
give it to me,
delicious green-card, from the USA,
the nut, chocolate and American Dream,
Just one Green Card,
give it to me

Based on the Walls' ice cream advert, itself based, apparently, on the song O Sole Mio.

Why not do you citizenship before you go ..... save you a lot of problems if you want to come back in the future ... although already having a year out has put your clock back....

What do you mean, "given up?"

You still have it, right? And it sounds like you've been gone less than a year.
