British Expats - girlfriend in US, visa only 90 days

girlfriend in US, visa only 90 days

I'm a UK resident going to the states on the VW (90 days max visa) to visit
my girlfriend. No intention or inclination to get married just yet. in the long-term,
i hope to get sponsership through work with one of the contacts we have in the Bay Area.
But we know this will be a lengthy process, which also entails having to go back to the UK
after the VW expires.

a few questions,
1) how tough is re-entry?

2) if i apply for a visa extension would that make a second or third entry more difficult?

3) we read that someone had written a letter to INS on behalf of their bro-in-law for a
6 month visa explaining reasons for extended stay and info on how they would support himself.
any info on that?

When I applied for an extension on behalf of my brother-in-law, he was here on a B-2 visa from Mexico, not a visa waiver. I submitted the explanation letter with Form I-539 (Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status), which expressly does not apply to those admitted under the Visa Waiver Program.

To my knowledge, you can't extend visa waiver stays, but you'll want to verify that from somebody more familiar with visa waivers.
