Getting SSI NUMBER
 

:confused::(Can anyone give me the low down on getting an ssi number so that i can obtain a mass. drivers licence. i am here on a K1 Visa & want to get things going so that i can get to the job i have been promised.:thumbup: Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are within your first 76 days in the USA on the K-1, do what Ray says.

If you are past your first 76 days in the USA, you need to wait until you have your EAD in hand, then you can apply for SS card.

By the way, it's not SSI. SSI is Social Security Income. You just want a Social Security Number/Card.

Either way, for SS and the RMV, I'd recommend finding a small town well out the way like Milford or you'd be there all day, especially on thursdays when they are open till later, usually a 40 min wait to get a number to wait inside for a couple hours if you go on a Thursday...
