Getting rid of WEP?
FYI
The House passed the Social Security Fairness Act on Nov 26th 2024. This legislation would eliminate the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). The next step is for the Senate to pass their version of the bill, S.597. Getting it passed may be a longshot, but making a noise helps. If you are inclined to do so, let them know you want them to get the Social Security Fairness Act S.597 to the floor and voted on ASAP. Just found out I'm not allowed to post links (I'd have to have posted 5 times+ for that). So just google your senators contact info and send them something like this: "The U.S. House of Representatives listened, and passed the Social Security Fairness Act. I ask that you now help ensure that the Senate follows suit. For the first time in history, you have the opportunity to bring this nonpartisan bill across the finish line. I urge you, on behalf myself and the nearly 2.5 million retirees impacted by WEP and GPO in every state across the nation, to bring the Social Security Fairness Act (H.R.82) before the U.S. Senate for a vote. " I was also going to link to an article as well, but just google "Social Security Fairness Act" and you'll find some if interested.Pete |
