Hi all,

Was wanting to top up my life insurance a bit and so started to obtain quotes. Called Metlife first. Got a good quote but hit a stumbling block as can't accept greencard holders except I categories (I am an E18 category). Have any non-citizen, non-I's managed to get life insurance with a US company?

Ask other insurance companies. As a green card holder you should not have a problem, normally. If you can find a good insurance agent in your locality, he or she ought to be able to help. Don't assume everyone answering the phone at an insurance company knows what a green card is ...

Company life insurance is not a great option, though, at least not as your sole life insurance. Often if you leave employment, you lose your life insurance and you may be unable to get coverage on the market at that time.

Call around, loads of places offer it and with a greencard.

We had life insurance with Allstate when we had green cards, with no problem.
