I remember one nauseating thread on my UK dental forum where they had a heated discussion about how much they should charge their patients for such a service.

Doctors were taken off the list of accepted signatories in 2001, because it was taking too much time.

i used an online passport photo service (epassportphoto.com - I think), and an iPhone to take the original photo. The actual passport photos were delivered to a local CVS for collection but I could have had them mailed to me. Just got my new passport back from durham so it was all fine with them.

As a AAA member in the US I got them there, $5.
Also, I had to have a counter signatory because my previous passport had been expired over 10 years. Used my former s-in-l as she is an attorney!
Passport received in 1 week from their receiving it!

I get ours from Walgreens- 2 (or maybe 4?) for about $20. Expensive but easy. We received the kids' replacement passports back in 3 weeks. Really impressed. I had a British friend counter-sign their photos.

I seem to have a problem. For some unknown reason, the passport office sent my passport via DHL to my name, city, state, and zip code -- but without my street address. I can fix this with DHL, but I'm very concerned with the safe return of my original documents (which I will need to register my children as British citizens after I have an unexpired British passport). Is there an email address at the passport office at which I can email them? I have no way to make a phone call to the UK.

Did you give your five number zip code, or the full "zip+4"? A zip+4 is specific to just a few houses, so the mail man should be able to get the envelope to you.
Sorry I can't help with an email address, and I suspect that even if you can find one it is already too late as your documents will likely already have been dispatched back to you.
