GC processing

I've H1B visa and have started my green card process in march 2002, starting with the labor certification..
Do you guys know how long does it take to get this step(LCA) done? Is it still around 18 months?
I though it might take less time as of the current circumstances of bad economy..

any thoughts?
thanks

Re: GC processing

Dear Madam or Sir,

See http://www.work-
forcesecurity.doleta.gov/foreign/times.asp
for details on
state and federal labor department processing time lines. Your application
has to go through both agencies before a final decision can be reached.

Best regards,

Re: GC processing

The point is that I don't understand the Table titles, like:
Program Title, Regular Permanent ,Reduction in Recruitment ,H-2A ,H-2B

is there an explanation?
thanks,
Tamer

Re: GC processing

If you filed an RIR (reduction in recruitment) then the dates in that
category apply to you; if you filed a regular labor cert, then the dates in
THAT category apply to you, etc.

Hope this helps!

Re: GC processing

giving that I don't know if my labor certificate is "regular" or RIR....Let's say it's "regular permenant"...My lawyer filed it on May2002 at Chicago Office, so the DOL should be working on it right according to the table, am I right?
so, how long it does take take then?

thanks.

Re: GC processing

I think that I'm in RIR process because my employer advertised for the job, not INS supervisors...
so, for Chicago Labor office, Are they working right now on "June. 2002" according to the table? and if so,, when it's expected to get done....
:)
thanks.

Re: GC processing

The Illinois state office is working on regular cases received in April 2001
and RIRs received in July 2002. The federal DOL is working on regular cases
received by the state office in May 2002 and RIRs received in June 2002. So,
if your case was an RIR and submitted to the state in May 2002, it is likely
that they are working on it already. *Some* state offices also notify the
employer and attorney-of-record, in writing, when they forward the case to
the federal DOL for a final decision. You may want to contact your attorney
or employer and request that they do a status check to see where you are in
the queue.

Best,

Re: GC processing

quick correction! if your RIR was submitted in May 2002, and the state is
working on July 2002 cases, then the state is actually NOT YET working on
your case. It could take some more time. Keep following the processing times
and/or periodically contact your employer/lawyer for status inquiries.
