With gas at $3/gallon I think a lot more of us will telecommute more often.

It was $2.61 here in Connecticut two days ago. Last night it was $2.99. God knows what it is today. Is there a reason why the prices are suddenly going up? I mean is there an oil refinery in New Orleans I didn't know about? I thought this was the world's richest country and so I presumed that we could afford to finance a rescue effort in one part of the country without the rest of the infrastructure falling apart. When you think about it, a lot less gas will be used now as no one in New Orleans or Mississipi can drive anywhere at the moment!

I paid $2.61 yesterday afternoon (late) at Costco. The highest I saw was $2.73 at a Chevron station near our house. I'm betting it will go a bit higher.

Plus this price hike is supposed to be a short term thing until things get back on line, but somehow I doubt that'll happen till after labour day weekend...

Price update for you... This morning I saw the same garage at $3.77 per gallon.
Here's a question for you... The price of fuel went up $5 per barrel following the arrival of Katrina... I'm not sure exactly how much is in a barrel, lets say 50 Gallons (although it is probably more)...
Per Gallon, that is in increase of 10c!?!?!?!?!?! Where has the other 60c come from?
Are the gas companies screwing us for as much as they can during a state of emergency or am I just being cynical?

Very proud of my fellow drivers.... we are driving without aircon which does save gas. That's with a forecast high of 97 F today.
My hair is blown to sh*t but who cares?
