Maybe quality or price, but not quality and price.

Maybe true, but you can also get better quality than John Lewis in the UK.

We spent a lot of time when I moved here shopping for furniture.

I'd argue that West Elm and Pottery Barn are good, but that Ethan Allen are better quality, and possibly also Crate and Barrel. Maybe Arhaus too, but I don't know so much about them.

Restoration Hardware I dislike immensely. When were looking in the Houston showroom four years ago, absolutely everything was grey and pretend-distressed, and I couldn't believe the prices they wanted for most of it. Looking at their website now, the style is more varied, but the prices seem even higher.

I think Crate and Barrel is pretty similar to John Lewis. It's that functional/stylish/modern look that doesn't carry designer prices. Most of my stuff is Ikea but I love buying the odd thing from crate and barrel.... maybe when the kids have gone through college there'll be funds to shop there outside of the sales?

I loathe Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. The US equivalent of Laura Ashley twee. yeuch.
