Frustrated/You Tell Me If It Is Worth The Trouble

I'm frustrated with having to remind posters of the resources for the alt.visa.us.marriage-based news group and nag people to post their various experiences from the K-1 through Naturalization. These pages were set up for everyone to view who has fallen in love with a foreigner and wants to live together in the US. The main purpose was to make your lives a little easier by letting you know the what, wheres and whyfores of various US Consulates and INS offices. Mike Jones originally set up the K-1 FAQ. He and a host of others have worked diligently over the years to perfect and refine those resources and now they are falling in disrepair because they are not currect in regards to experiences.

So you let me know, do I continue to harp on everyone or should I just let those pages die from neglect?

Your choice.

Re: Frustrated/You Tell Me If It Is Worth The Trouble

I understand your frustration. I for one posted my experiences months ago as I began the K1 process and they never appeared on the sites. Am I suppose to rewrite everything again??? I am constantly looking through the pages to see if I find someone using the same Consulate or POE that my fiance is about to use yet to no avail everything is from 1999, 2000, 2001... and in these times what happened in those years are irrelevant because post 9.11 THE RULES HAVE CHANGED!!!

So please people begin to post your experiences. In particular anything within the last year.

Re: Frustrated/You Tell Me If It Is Worth The Trouble

There was a problem with the site. The Webmistress didn't know about it as no one who posted and didn't see it there wrote her an e-mail to let her know. I did and it was corrected. However that was only last week. I told everyone about this and asked them to repost and/or to cut and paste it from a NG posting and e-mail her at [email protected]

Absolutely people should be posting their experiences. I have posted my experiences so far and wish that others have been as diligent. I find this to be such a valuable and important tool. Rete - keep reminding 'em and thanks!

Rete,

It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it. I vote that you're doing an outstanding job and should continue the beatings until morale improves.

Rete,
I sincerely agree with Jeff, and I'm sure many, many others who are using the resources do also.
I shall post our experiences when we finally get somewhere, we've been in this since posting the K1 petition in Jan and dont even have an interview date as yet.
Yours, and others, replies to posts here, and all the other resources you so dilligently promote have been a godsend, i really wouldnt like to imagine how difficult it would have been getting this far without the help, advice and encouragement.
Please keep up the good work,
and thanks,
Rob

Re: Frustrated/You Tell Me If It Is Worth The Trouble

Well, I can only speak for myself.. If YOU don't mind harping, I say keep doing it !
:) Simply because I am a forgetful person, and I'm very busy so sometimes I won't
read my email or newsgroups for weeks at a time.. and for me it's nice to see
reminders every once and a while. I would love to post my timelines/experiences, and
we are still accumulating them.. seems like I have no time for anything... and I hope
at some point I'll be able to sit down and do that... in which case I'll search the
group and look for the links.. again.. :) On the other hand, if you're tired of it,
and as you say, you're frustrated, well... no one will blame you if you just said
"heck with it" :)

That's my 2 cents :)

Re: Frustrated/You Tell Me If It Is Worth The Trouble

I would probably post my stuff if I actually knew all the buzzwords.

My attorneys filed a ton of papers in Boston about two months ago. Last week we had
an interview. Yesterday I received a letter from the INS saying I had been granted
permanent residence. Where do I post? Under AOS or I-130 or what?

You do a great job on this NG and I would say yes, keep reminding and nagging
everyone to post their experiences. It is a great source of information and also a
comfort to know that there are many others going through the same frustrations,
worries and waiting periods.

I myself will only be filling my I-130/I-485 package on Fri 6/14, but will definitely
post my time line and experiences as we go along.

Thanks again for all your expertise and help.

Re: Frustrated/You Tell Me If It Is Worth The Trouble

Rete, you go girl. If it wasn't for you nagging, most of these guys/gals wouldn't
know where to even look for similar experiences, and the now numerous "dumb
non-researched at all" questions would multiply exponentially on the board, because
nobody would know where to go find it themselves.

Besides, its fun to whine at you for nagging. :)
