Frosted Shreddies
Already ate the 2 boxes I brought back with me from my trip to Blighty last month. :(
Anybody seen frosted shreddies in the stores over here? Also the "organic" version of Weetabix ain't bad ($3.95 per box at super Tarchay) makes one shite thru an eye of a needle within 2 hours of consumption though. Bloody fed up with the choice of breakfast stuff over here, half the shelf is 100 different types of cheerios or oatmeal! |

Not seen frosted shreddies but a great substitute for regular shreddies is "Toasted Wheat" from Walmart. They taste exactly the same as normal shreddies only they are a bit smaller in size. All breakfast cereals over here are 99% sugar so I try and avoid at all costs. However I am partial to the occasional bowl of fruit loops :) |

Re: Frosted Shreddies
I can get Frosted Sheddies here, they are called Mini Wheats also Sugar Puffs which are called Honey Smacks. If you add carnation milk to Cream of Wheat (oringal flavour) it's a good substitute for Ready Brek.

Re: Frosted Shreddies
You sure you are not confusing shreddies with shredded wheat? The only things around here called mini wheats are the bite size version of shredded wheat. I found some stuff that's exactly the same as shreddies called organic wheat squares, made by full circle. I think I saw a frosted version a few times but I can't say for sure.

I do make my own bread in the machine thingy (out of a packet of course, but no doubt you will give me a recipe) And it still taste like "tasteless crap" The shop bought bread here lasts forever, and never goes stale (so that in itself isnt a good thing) I have been here for 8 years, and my complaint from day one was the bread, the other stuff I can tolerate.. Fiesta bread here is the best as far as I can see (and I dont mean the porn mag) LOL PD1 |
Re: Frosted Shreddies
As for the cereals, No wonder all these kids are on Ritalin
PD1 |

Re: Frosted Shreddies
My fav is muesli but I cant find any nice stuff here and the stuff I have bought is so sweet is ridiculous.

Re: Frosted Shreddies
Our local grocery store has been selling Weetabix for several years. About two months ago they disappeared off the shelves. I scoured the cereal aisle thoroughly. Could not find them. (Still can't understand why anyone would want to eat peanut butter cereal first thing in the morning YUCK). Anyway, as we were checking out the girl at the register said "did you find everything?". I told her that we had not, and that after a few years buying Weetabix they were suddenly gone. She called over the manager and asked him and he informed us they had been moved to where the organic products are. ORGANIC??? I just laughed and told him that the Brits were eating Weetabix before anyone knew what organic farming was. Sure enough, we found them and noticed that they now have plastered in big letters across the corner "ORGANIC". Does this mean the price will go up??
As for making you shit through the eye of a needle, there is always Peptobismol, makes you go if you are bunged up, makes you stop if you are loose and cures all, but keep it away from your furniture. It says on the bottle "may darken your stools". :D |

Don't flame me but I like the cereals here :o If I moved back to the UK I would have Raisan Nut Bran imported as well as Cracklin Oat Bran... I really like Honey Bunches of Oats too.
This morning for breakfast I had toast smothered with Hartley's Strawberry Jam... lovely. Ash |

Not cheap of course but if one misses more authentic bread and less sugar/corn syrup/high fructuse corn syrup in one's breakfast, it's worth it. NC Penguin |

A have a genuine question for y'all (see, these quaint Texan modes of speech do have their uses!):
How in hell's name do you find time to eat breakfast? Seriously, in between trying to down a pint of black coffee, shower, shave, brush my teeth and still get to work on time... Is that why all these Yanks are eating in their cars on the way to work? |
