I thought it might be Floyd. We only got the remains of it up here though. Just a bit of wind and rain. Nothing like hurricanes experienced in southern states.

Well the bugs are still beating me. Have just returned from emergency room after my 4th July bites made my leg swell up to look like fat old lady feet. Doc says it may be a bacterial infection and they are seeing a lot of resistant strains so tetanus and strong antibiotics. Someone here died from a reaction to a mosquito bite recently.
And a child on the next street was airlifted to hospital after being bitten by a pygmi rattlesnake on monday!

I'm staying in till November.

Poor you..get as much rest as you can...and drink lots of water....have a hug too. Meanwhile in Seattle I feel as though I never left England, grey skies...temperate temps and the promise that the sun will shine for a while tomorrow...Glad I'm not in DC...last year nearly killed me

We really do have very cool lightning displays.

I know we live on a reclaimed swamp but its more like being in the jungle.

Oh and we went to the beach and everyone had to get out of the sea cos someone thought they saw a shark!
I've been warned the only place I walk has cottonmouths and its nearly hurricane season. Its apparently gonna be 20 degrees hotter soon so what else am I missing?
Bring lots of anti itch ointments, mozzie and spider bites itch like hell. In the summer you always need to wear shorts, unless you want to sweat to death, but wearing shorts leaves you open to mozzie, spider, and those lovely fire ant bites. In wooded areas, not so much in urban areas, you also need to be aware of scorpions and snakes. Florida scorpion stings are not lethal, but they hurt like hell I am told.

Welcome to the sunshine state!!

Why the **** did we ever move to Florida? I'm s**t scared of snakes*, the missus is s**t scared of spiders AND the in laws are nearer so I get to drive across the Alley to fix their computers on weekends...

Somewhere less dangerous, Kandahar maybe, is on the cards next I think
