I work in the natural food industry on a national basis and speaking to work associates all over the US about this earlier today, we are all a bit baffled by what's really going on!

I was in Fresh and Easy today and they have discontinued a few items I did like and some that I had wanted to try.

Yes, Wild Oats sold out to Whole Foods a while back. But the founder is apparently starting a new "Wild Oats" and is looking at the Fresh & Easy business as a way of kick starting the new venture. Not sure how much will survive though; a lot of F&E stores are in "marginal" locations where I doubt a Wild Oats type store would do well.
