I do the exact opposite - if there is a cart abandoned near where I've parked, I will take it in to the store with me, and then typically leave it in the store and carry my bags back to the car whenever possible ( i.e. if I haven't bought milk, beer, or laundry detergent).

I will also offer (from 10-15ft away) to take a cart if I see a parent with small children unloading a cart. ...... And that, I think, explains why many carts get abandoned, not because of some altruistic job creation scheme by shoppers like Steerpike. :)

Or if you lack the killer instinct, and their parents aren't looking, you can take them out in a shopping cart. :)

Fortunately my two closest F&E stores are staying open (4S Ranch and Mira Mesa), however here in San Diego there are three stores getting the chop - the one in Escondido, Second Street in El Cajon and Mission Gorge Road in Santee.

If your local Fresh and Easy is closing you will know straight away when you get there - currently there's 25% off everything in closing stores.

One next to me in Anaheim Hills is going. I went in a couple of weeks ago and had all their Robinsons juice off them. If they're 25% off I may go back this weekend and take whatever more they've got since restocking :thumbsup:
