Default FREE multi-region DVD player up for grabs

No more watching Only Fools and Horses and Dr Who on your PC!!

Yes, FREE - I'm giving it away, although some $$$ to cover sticking it in the post* would be appreciated. It's a Sampo (no, me neither) DVE-612 and plays region 1 and 2 DVDs no problem. I was given this by a mate from work and we're getting rid of it because we traded up to a Phillips DVP3140 from Amazon. The only problem with it is there's no remote (my mate lost it somehow) and I couldn't get one of those universal remotes to work with it, despite the manual listing "Sampo" as one of the compatible brands.

If anyone's interested, drop me a PM

*Offer not valid outside the continental USA

I could mention, they're both available in region 1.

But I won't.

Although, I find, even with the exchange rate, they're both a hell of a lot cheaper to get shipped from the UK.

so I'm not exactly getting knocked down in the rush here

what's putting people off - the missing remote? being asked to pay for postage? Bob's "recommendation"?

Its definately a generous offer, maybe someone will be along soon to take you up on it

I think the thing is that many people already have viable alternatives. Personally I have hacked every desktop and laptop DVD drive I have ever owned and just flash all my units with RPC1 firmware which plays any region, so I simply use my laptop (connected to a big screen) to play any DVD media I may have.

These multi region drives are also available widely now, not like it was 5 or 10 years a go..

If this is still going in six months' time I'll take you up on it, but we're not in the US yet!
