Foreclosure search
Is there a way of finding out if a property is in foreclosure, or about to go into foreclosure?
Thanks |
Re: Foreclosure search
Go onto www.foreclosure.com and search by zip code to see if its in foreclosure I guess is one option.

Don't know, but there's been a few threads on foreclosure, one even pretty recently, might have the info you want?

Thanks Generally the first publicly available indication that a property is in foreclosure is a Notice of Default filed at the county recorder's office. If you know the address of the property then you should be able to find out from the county recorder whether a NoD has been filed. This all varies by state, so it's hard to give you a specific answer to your question. Realtytrac have a decent overview of the foreclosure process: http://www.realtytrac.com/foreclosure/overview.html Also note that someone may have been failing to make payments for months or even years before the bank gets round to filing the NoD. The banks are swamped with such mortgages and they don't have enough staff trained to deal with them. |

Your question implies that you are looking at a specific property.
