Short of finding a "british" bar, is DirecTV (via Setanta) the only way of getting to see the premier league footy?

Re: Football
I was flicking thru my on screen guide and I see that Setanta has a free preview this weekend (16th & 17th). It is channel 406 on Dish Network. No idea if DirecTV are offering the same...

Depending on where you are in Manhattan, there are plenty of non-"British" bars that will show PL matches. Though I think the main one is Nevada Smiths, on 3rd just below 14th St. Never been, though, so I couldn't tell you if it's good, or just a tourist trap.
It's not bad at all.
Gets very full for big games however and sometimes has a cover charge.

Re: Football
There is a cover for FA cup games and England/ Ireland internationals only (Payper view games). All league and champions league games are free. It really does get packed for the big games, get there early (doors closed for the CL final 2 1/2 hours before kick off, but the Chelsea lads kindly left with haste after JT slipped giving us a bit of extra elbow room......)

If you have highspeed internet access you can download tvants which streams live TV torrents. Setanta is always on their when premier league is on. Not the best option i know but the cheapest
